Jets Urged To Avoid This 1 NFL Draft Prospect

Posted on April 24, 2025

The New York Jets have primarily been pegged to take one of two players in the first round of the NFL Draft, Missouri tackle Armand Membou and Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. Time will tell which player, if either at all, becomes the new darling of new general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn.

It will be the first draft pick made by the pair, a massive decision that will alter the future of the franchise. Membou’s floor is seen as incredibly high and would fill a glaring hole on the offensive line. Warren, on the other hand, could be the high-volume receiving threat at tight end the Jets have lacked over the past decade.

While no prospect is perfect, many analysts believe Mougey and Glenn would not be best served by selecting Warren, starting their respective tenures by drafting a tight end who may not be the best fit for their planned offensive scheme.

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski penned one player each NFL team should avoid in the draft, and to no surprise, the pick for the Jets was Warren.

“The New York Jets signed Justin Fields in free agency and should do everything in the organization’s power to build around its new quarterback. The team must fully commit to the athletic quarterback and run game. While doing so, the front office shouldn’t consider a marginal in-line option to be a big part of that plan.

Penn State’s Tyler Warren is a future weapon in the NFL if deployed properly. He can be used all over the formation. At the same time, he wasn’t nearly effective earlier in his career when used in a more traditional manner.” Wrote Sobleski.

Sobleski expressed concerns with Warren’s fit with the Jets, while also admiring the depth of the draft class at tight end, and suggests Membou would be the way to go for the Jets.

“His potential selection with the seventh overall pick feels like a bit of reach and imperfect fit regarding the Jets. Besides, this tight end class is quite good as well.

Instead, the Jets can finish the offensive line by addressing right tackle or give new head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive difference-maker to be the foundational piece for culture.” Sobleski concluded.
