Cub Tracks, good buddy

Posted on April 27, 2025

WELCOME to today’s episode of Cub Tracks news and notes™, a greatest-hits collection of Chicago-style beat writers and bloggers, ground from #Cubs, #MiLB, and #MLB baseball, overheated, steeped in writers’ tears, and then cold-brewed overnight for maximum flavor. No artificial intelligences were deployed, employed, entranced, or embalmed in the commission of this missive (apparently I might be training some though). Cub Tracks eagerly awaits the advent of robotic umpires and has already amended the three laws. The going is weird. Cub Tracks turned pro a long time ago.

Cub Tracks. Where the great ones run away.

Former SimCub Jesus Luzardo took the hill for the Phighting Phillies opposing Ben Brown, former Phillie pick who arrived when David Robertson moved east. The wind was blowing in and the temps were unseasonably low.

A low-scoring game was expected, especially with Justin Turner batting cleanup. The announcing crew wasn’t as annoying as the old group, but the Phillie bats were irksome, especially in the fourth inning. I so wanted to change that station. Brown wasn’t pitching badly at all but those runners kept on going around. Ugh. It sure looked like cheesesteaks for supper. “We don’t quit here”, said the Cubs, and chipped away. The Phils, though, were uncooperative.

The Cubs lost 10-4, setting up a match for the meatloaf this evening in Chicago.
