Donald Trump Threatens Relationship Between Eagles’ Saquon Barkley And Jalen Hurts

Posted on April 28, 2025

While Philadelphia Eagles’ running back Saquon Barkley spent the weekend playing golf with President Donald Trump, teammate Jalen Hurts refused to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl at The White House.

Saquon Barkley’s perfectly magical relationship with some Philadelphia Eagles fans has ended, as soon as his friendship with Donald Trump began.

Ahead of Monday’s visit to the White House to celebrate their victory in Super Bowl LIX, Barkley spent time with the President playing golf over the weekend. After signing with Philly last offseason, producing one of the most prolific running back seasons in NFL history and capping it off with a championship win over the Kansas City Chiefs in February, his Fairy Tale is over.

Barkley spent Sunday and Monday defending his time spent with the controversial President as fans criticized him on social media.

“Lol some people are really upset cause I played golfed and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,” he wrote on Twitter. “Maybe I just respect the office, not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago…and look forward to finishing my round with Trump! Now ya get out my mentions with all this politics and have amazing day.”

On Sunday, Barkley and Trump were seen getting off Marine One in New Jersey, with the pair chatting. Trump approached reporters assembled at the airport and said, “What a nice guy” about Barkley.

Barkley’s appearance with Trump comes days after Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts dodged a question about whether he would attend their Super Bowl victory at the White House. Citing a “scheduling conflict,” Hurts is not attending the celebration.

There were questions about whether the Eagles would go to the White Housenot being invited in 2018 when Trump was in his first term in office. That year Trump falsely accused the Eagles of taking a knee during the National Anthem and disrespecting America before uninviting the whole team.

“Finally have 1 fully healthy season and now you selling out,” one fan wrote to Barkley on his social media.

“Hope your dog runs away and the AirTag stops working,” added another.

“It’s really sad that you even had to make this post to “defend” yourself Having opinions is fine but there’s no need to criticize others for something as simple as this People will judge you hard if you don’t HATE the President. It’s weird. It’s really weird,” wrote a commenter.
