Tons Of Philadelphia Eagles Skipped The White House Ceremony, Only About 20 Players Showed Up: Here’s Who Bailed

Posted on April 29, 2025

The Trump administration hosted the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles at the White House on Monday, April 28, and the event was far from a full house, to say the least. According to reports, less than half of the Eagles players were in attendance.

According to counts done by sports journalists on the scene, there were about 20-25 players in attendance. An NFL roster consists of 53 players, meaning just about 37% of the team was in attendance.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was one of the most notable names not in attendance, with NBC Sports citing a “scheduling conflict” at the reason.

Below, you can find a list of the Philadelphia Eagles players not in attendance at the White House:

Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Brandon Graham, Darius Slay, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Jalyx Hunt, Isaiah Rodgers, Josh Sweat and Nolan Smith.

Conversely, notable players that were in attendance included Saquon Barkley, Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Mekhi Becton, Reed Blankenship, Cooper DeJean, and James Bradberry.

At the NFL’s owner meetings earlier this year, team owner Jeffrey Laurie confirmed that attending the event was “optional.”

“Our culture is that these are optional things,” Lurie said. “If you want to enjoy this, come along and we’ll have a great time. And if you don’t, it is totally an optional thing.”

The Eagles won the Super Bowl LIX title by steamrolling the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in the big game by a score of 40-22.

Heading into the 2025 campaign, the Eagles are currently the betting favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champs. Their odds, +600, are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs, suggesting that bookies think a rematch between the two teams could be on the cards.

As Super Bowl champs, the Eagles will host the first game of the 2025 NFL season the Thursday before the first football Sunday of the fall.
