Kyle Tucker gives Cubs fans a silver lining in the aftermath of Shota Imanaga injury

Posted on May 5, 2025

As Chicago Cubs fans desperately wait for further news on Shota Imanaga’s injury, there is another injury that they can lower their panic levels for.

In the 9th inning of the Cubs’ 4-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, outfielder Kyle Tucker was spotted at second base getting his knee looked at. After Tucker stole second base, he was visited by the Cubs’ training staff as they looked at his knee. Tucker appeared to be fine and stayed in for the remainder of the game.

After the game, despite getting treatment, Tucker told reporters that he will be in the Cubs’ starting lineup on Monday night against the San Francisco Giants.

Kyle Tucker quickly downplayed injury concerns

“I fell awkwardly on my right thigh. It didn’t feel the greatest, but I am alright. I am alright and I’ll be in the lineup tomorrow,” Tucker told reporters following Sunday’s game against the Brewers.

With Imanaga likely to miss, at least, the next month of the season, the Cubs can’t afford an injury to Tucker. Even with Pete Crow-Armstrong appearing to be reaching a superstar level of offensive production, Tucker’s success at the top of the Cubs’ lineup is what is leading to success throughout the order. With the Cubs likely patching together their starting rotation going forward for the next month, the offense will need to carry the team. Unlike previous seasons, the Cubs have a superstar in their lineup to do so
