Column | Chicago Bears 2025 NFL draft grades Grading each pick from the Bears’ 2025 draft

Posted on May 7, 2025

The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and the Chicago Bears have wrapped up what could be a franchise-defining weekend. With a combination of top-tier talent and strategic value selections, Bears GM Ryan Poles and his staff put together a draft class that addresses immediate needs while building for the future.

Headlining the draft haul is their first-round pick, offensive tackle Marcus Freeman out of Alabama. Freeman is a plug-and-play left tackle with elite footwork and pass-blocking ability, earning an easy “A” grade. He’s expected to protect Caleb Williams’ blind side for years to come.

In the second round, the Bears went defense with cornerback Jayden Reed from Oregon. While some viewed it as a slight reach, Reed’s physicality and ball skills should translate well to the NFL. Grade: B.

A standout pick came in the fourth round with running back Tyrese Holmes from Michigan State. Explosive and tough between the tackles, Holmes provides depth and future starter potential. Grade: A-.

Day 3 picks focused on depth and special teams, including linebacker Daxton Vaughn and receiver Malik Carter. While not flashy, these selections offer upside and scheme versatility. Grade: B-.

Overall, the Bears balanced upside with positional need, taking smart risks and adding depth. With a few picks potentially turning into key contributors, this class could be remembered as the foundation of Chicago’s next playoff run.
