“TreVeyon Is the Best Leader I’ve Ever Been Around”: Buckeyes Star Earns High Praise in Locker Room That’s All-In for 2025 Title Run

COLUMBUS, OH — In a program rich with legends and leadership, Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson is carving out a legacy that extends far beyond his explosive plays and breakaway speed. As the Buckeyes continue their preparation for the 2025 college football season, one thing has become abundantly clear within the locker room — this team is rallying behind a player who has evolved into its emotional heartbeat.

“TreVeyon is the best leader I’ve ever been around,” one teammate told reporters after a recent team workout session. “He’s not just talking — he’s showing up every day, putting in the work, and pulling everyone else along with him. He leads by example, and when he speaks, you listen.”

That level of admiration isn’t handed out easily at Ohio State, a school known for producing NFL-caliber talent and fierce internal competition. But Henderson, now entering what many expect to be his final season before declaring for the NFL Draft, has taken on more than just a feature role in the backfield — he’s become a mentor, motivator, and unifying force in a team with national title ambitions.

After a 2024 campaign that ended in heartbreak in the College Football Playoff semifinals, the Buckeyes have spent the offseason retooling and re-focusing. Henderson’s message to his teammates has been consistent: unfinished business. The senior has organized extra film sessions, led weekend conditioning drills, and spent countless hours working with younger players — particularly new quarterback Julian Sayin, who steps into the spotlight this season.

“Having TreVeyon in the huddle with me is a huge confidence boost,” Sayin said. “He’s calm under pressure, he’s always thinking two steps ahead, and he holds everyone accountable — including himself. You want to raise your level just by being around him.”

Last season, Henderson rushed for over 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns despite battling through a mid-season ankle injury. But his value extends beyond the stat sheet. Coaches have praised his maturity, his football IQ, and his unwavering commitment to team success.

“He’s the standard,” head coach Ryan Day said. “We talk a lot about culture and toughness here, and TreVeyon embodies all of that. He’s been instrumental in setting the tone this offseason.

The Buckeyes are set to open the 2025 season with a primetime clash against Texas — a top-10 showdown that could have early playoff implications. Expectations are sky-high, and Henderson’s leadership will be under the microscope from the first snap.

But if the offseason is any indication, he’s not only ready — he’s determined to leave a legacy that extends beyond records and rings.

“Everything we’re doing is to get back to that championship stage,” Henderson said. “We’ve got the pieces. We’ve got the hunger. Now it’s time to execute.”

As the Buckeyes chase glory, they’ll be doing it with a leader who’s already won over the most important crowd: his teammates.
