Breaking News: Las Vegas Raiders still have time to make a trade for star player who can turn the bad side of their roster around…

Posted on May 20, 2025

As the offseason progresses, the Las Vegas Raiders find themselves in a position where a strategic trade could still dramatically impact their outlook for the 2025 season. Although the bulk of free agency and the NFL Draft are behind them, the trade window remains open, and the front office has both the time and flexibility to pursue a high-caliber player who could address some of the lingering weaknesses on the roster.

One area that remains a concern is the offensive line. Despite some additions in free agency and the development of younger players, there is still uncertainty about the unit’s ability to consistently protect the quarterback and open lanes for the running game. Bringing in a proven offensive lineman via trade would not only solidify this crucial group but also raise the ceiling of the entire offense. A veteran with leadership qualities and playoff experience could be the missing piece that brings balance and confidence to a developing unit.

The Raiders also continue to assess their options at cornerback. While the team has invested in youth and drafted promising talent, the secondary still lacks a true lockdown corner. A trade for an elite defensive back could instantly transform the defense and give the Raiders the ability to go toe-to-toe with top-tier passing attacks in the AFC West. With players like Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert on the schedule twice a year, having a dependable, playmaking corner is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity.

Another possibility lies in bolstering the wide receiver corps behind star Davante Adams. While Adams remains the undisputed WR1 and a cornerstone of the offense, the depth behind him has room for improvement. Acquiring a dynamic second option—someone who can stretch the field and demand attention from opposing defenses—would open up opportunities across the board, including for tight ends and running backs.

General Manager Tom Telesco has shown a willingness to think outside the box, and the Raiders still possess draft capital and expendable depth that could be used in trade negotiations. Whether it’s targeting a disgruntled star on a rebuilding team or identifying a player stuck in a crowded depth chart elsewhere, the options are there if the front office is ready to act.

Timing is also on their side. With training camp still weeks away, any new acquisition would have the chance to get acclimated to the team’s system and culture. Head coach Antonio Pierce has emphasized the importance of chemistry and work ethic, and bringing in a proven veteran who fits that mold could provide both on-field production and off-field leadership.
