Jaquan Brisker delivers the news at the start of OTAs that every Bears’ fan is going to want to hear as he enters the final year of his contract

Posted on May 21, 2025

At the start of Organized Team Activities (OTAs), Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker gave fans exactly the kind of news they were hoping for. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Brisker made it clear that he’s not only fully committed to the Bears but also very open to staying in Chicago for the long haul.

Brisker, who was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has quickly developed into a cornerstone of the Bears’ defense. In his first two seasons, he’s earned a reputation as a physical, hard-hitting safety with strong instincts and a relentless motor. Now, as he prepares for a crucial season that could determine the next chapter of his career, Brisker is sending a strong message: he wants to remain in Chicago.

“I love it here,” Brisker told reporters at Halas Hall. “This is where I started my NFL journey. The fans, the city, the organization—it all means a lot to me. I want to be a part of building something special.”

Brisker’s comments come at a pivotal time. The Bears have made significant strides this offseason, adding key players on both sides of the ball and generating buzz as a team on the rise. The organization has shown a commitment to building a sustainable winner, and Brisker sees himself as a major piece of that puzzle.

“I see what we’re doing—adding talent, building chemistry, and getting better every day,” Brisker said. “I want to be one of the leaders that helps take this team to the next level.”

Brisker has been a consistent performer when healthy. In 2023, despite some early-season injuries, he finished the year strong, recording over 100 tackles, multiple sacks, and proving to be a key figure in the secondary. His versatility, toughness, and football IQ have made him a fan favorite and a respected voice in the locker room.

While contract talks haven’t officially begun, Brisker made it clear that he’s open to negotiating an extension, and he hopes to avoid free agency.

“If the front office wants to talk, I’m all ears,” he said. “Right now, my focus is on being the best player and teammate I can be. The rest will take care of itself.”

The Bears have had a history of letting young talent slip away in past years, but general manager Ryan Poles has emphasized building through the draft and retaining core players. With Brisker’s talent and leadership qualities, it’s no surprise fans and analysts alike are calling for the team to lock him up before the season starts.

For now, Brisker is focused on the present—getting better each day, mentoring younger players, and helping the Bears continue to progress. But his message is clear: he’s not just playing for a contract; he’s playing for Chicago. And that’s exactly the kind of energy Bears fans can rally behind.
