Breaking: Mike Tomlin Officially Announced The Departure Of Another Top Experienced Superstar Who Betrayed Steelers For Rivals

Posted on May 22, 2025

Zach Banner, a former offensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has signed with the Houston Roughnecks of the United Football League (UFL), marking his return to professional football after a four-year hiatus. Banner, 31, last played in 2021 with the Steelers but faced setbacks due to a torn ACL and subsequent unsuccessful tryouts.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Banner’s initial tenure in the NFL was brief. The Steelers offered him a second chance, where he gradually ascended the depth chart. However, during his first career start at right tackle, he suffered a knee injury that sidelined him, preventing further opportunities to showcase his abilities.

The Houston Roughnecks, under the leadership of Head Coach CJ Johnson, are preparing for the upcoming UFL season, which kicks off on March 28, 2025. The team has announced its coaching staff and is set to play its home games at the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium.

Banner’s addition to the Roughnecks provides him with a platform to demonstrate his readiness and capabilities, with the ultimate goal of returning to the NFL. He expressed his determination, stating that he has been prepared and is eager to seize this opportunity.

As the UFL season approaches, Banner aims to make a significant impact with the Roughnecks, showcasing his resilience and commitment to reviving his professional football career.
