ESPN has projected that the Pittsburgh Steelers should target veteran cornerback Kendall Fuller in the upcoming free agency period. Fuller, who turned 29 on February 13, has been a consistent performer over the past four seasons, playing in at least 14 games each year and accumulating 16 interceptions over his career.
Pro Football Focus (PFF) ranks him as the third-best cornerback in free agency and projects he will receive a three-year, $40 million contract, including $25 million guaranteed, averaging approximately $13.33 million per year.
The Steelers have been actively seeking to bolster their secondary. PFF also highlighted Pittsburgh as the best landing spot for other veteran cornerbacks, including Carlton Davis and former Steeler Mike Hilton. Davis, known for his physical play, is projected to receive a three-year, $42 million deal with $25 million guaranteed. Hilton, who previously played for Pittsburgh from 2017-2020, could provide valuable experience and familiarity to the Steelers’ defense.
Given the Steelers’ need to strengthen their cornerback position, targeting a veteran like Fuller aligns with their strategy to enhance their defensive lineup for the upcoming season.
