Breaking News: Pittsburgh Steelers Just Announced The Departure Of Another Two Top Experienced Star Players……

Posted on May 25, 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers face a critical divisional matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16, but their offense will be without a key weapon for the third consecutive game. Wide receiver George Pickens, sidelined with a hamstring injury, has been officially ruled out, as has backup quarterback Justin Fields. Despite these setbacks, the Steelers remain focused on clinching the AFC North.

Offensive Challenges Without Pickens

Pickens has been a cornerstone of Pittsburgh’s passing attack, and his absence has been felt deeply over the past two weeks. In Week 13, Pickens delivered a standout performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, hauling in 74 yards and a touchdown. However, his unsportsmanlike conduct penalties also drew sharp criticism from head coach Mike Tomlin.

The Steelers initially believed Pickens would recover in time for Week 14 against Cleveland, but he was ruled out unexpectedly. Since then, the passing game has struggled. Russell Wilson threw for just 128 yards in Week 15 against the Eagles, with Calvin Austin III emerging as the primary target. Veteran wideout Mike Williams has struggled to step up, managing only 51 yards across the past two games.

Playoff Picture and Stakes

Despite their loss to the Eagles, the Steelers clinched a playoff berth in Week 15. However, the AFC North remains competitive, with the Baltimore Ravens trailing by just one game. A win on Saturday would secure the division title for Pittsburgh, as they hold the tiebreaker from their earlier victory over Baltimore.

Defensive Reinforcements

The Steelers received encouraging news on the defensive side, with T.J. Watt returning to practice after sustaining an ankle injury late in the Week 15 loss. Watt, a frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year, is expected to play against Baltimore. His presence will be crucial for a defense tasked with limiting Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense.

Keys to the Game

Without Pickens, Pittsburgh’s offense will need to rely heavily on running back Najee Harris and tight end Pat Freiermuth, along with contributions from Wilson’s remaining targets. The defense, led by Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick, must capitalize on opportunities to contain Jackson and create turnovers.

Outlook

The Steelers have an opportunity to secure the AFC North and improve their playoff seeding, but they must find ways to compensate for the absence of Pickens. If the defense can dominate and the offense avoids mistakes, Pittsburgh can edge out the Ravens in what is likely to be a hard-fought battle.
