BREAKING: Elias Lindholm Signs 7-Year Deal with Boston Bruins Worth $7.75 Million AAV……

Posted on May 25, 2025

In a major move that will reshape the Boston Bruins’ forward core for the foreseeable future, veteran center Elias Lindholm has officially signed a 7-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of \$7.75 million. The deal signals Boston’s aggressive intent to remain a contender in the Eastern Conference and adds a significant boost to the team’s depth down the middle.

Lindholm, 29, was one of the most highly sought-after free agents this offseason. After finishing the 2024–25 season with the Vancouver Canucks, where he tallied 57 points (23 goals, 34 assists) in 79 games, Lindholm’s two-way play, faceoff dominance, and veteran leadership made him an attractive target for several playoff-caliber teams. Ultimately, it was Boston that emerged victorious in the race for his signature, offering both long-term security and a prominent role on a team with championship aspirations.

**“Elias is a complete player, and he fits exactly what we want in our lineup,”** Bruins GM Don Sweeney said in a press conference announcing the signing. **“He can play in all situations — 5-on-5, power play, penalty kill — and his experience will be invaluable for our younger guys as we build on our recent success.”**

This move could be seen as a direct response to recent roster uncertainties, including the potential retirement of veteran center Patrice Bergeron and the future of other aging core players. Lindholm’s arrival provides a seamless transition for the Bruins down the middle and helps fill the void left by Bergeron and David Krejci in recent years. Known for his hockey IQ, strong defensive instincts, and clutch performances, Lindholm is expected to slot into the top-six forward group and may center Boston’s top line alongside stars like David Pastrňák and Brad Marchand.

For Lindholm, the decision to sign with the Bruins is both a professional and personal fit. **“Boston is a historic franchise with a winning culture,”** Lindholm said. **“When I spoke with the organization and learned about their vision moving forward, I knew it was the right place for me. I’m ready to contribute and do everything I can to help bring another Cup to this city.”**

Throughout his career, which began with the Carolina Hurricanes before flourishing with the Calgary Flames, Lindholm has consistently been one of the NHL’s most reliable two-way centers. His best season came in 2021–22 with Calgary, where he recorded a career-high 82 points and was a finalist for the Selke Trophy. With 739 games under his belt and 483 points to his name, the Swedish forward brings experience and consistency to a Bruins squad eager to return to Stanley Cup contention.

The seven-year term of the deal also demonstrates Boston’s long-term commitment to keeping a competitive roster intact during what many expect to be a transitional period for the franchise. While the salary cap continues to rise, locking in Lindholm at \$7.75 million AAV is seen as a smart cap-friendly move, especially for a player of his caliber and versatility.

Fans in Boston have already expressed excitement on social media, with many hailing the move as the biggest signing since the team’s 2011 Stanley Cup era. The Bruins will be hoping that Lindholm’s arrival marks the beginning of a new championship window and strengthens their chances in a highly competitive Atlantic Division.

As the offseason progresses, all eyes will now turn to training camp — where Elias Lindholm is expected to wear a Bruins jersey for the first time, ready to make his mark in one of hockey’s most passionate cities.
