Raiders Make Bold Move, Sign Unstoppable Unrestricted Free Agent

Posted on May 28, 2025

The Las Vegas Raiders made a major addition to their defense by signing linebacker Devin White, a former first-round pick and one of the most dynamic defensive players in recent years. White joins the Raiders after a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans in 2024, where he played in seven games, starting one and recording 19 tackles. However, his most impactful years came with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent six seasons and became one of the premier linebackers in the NFL.

Drafted by the Buccaneers with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, White quickly established himself as a force on the field. Over his seven-year career, he has played in 83 games, making 76 starts, and racking up impressive stats. White has accumulated 585 total tackles, 23 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, and 64 quarterback hits. He has also recorded three interceptions, six forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries, and 21 passes defensed, showcasing his ability to impact the game in every phase.

White’s accolades include being named a 2020 Associated Press All-Pro and earning a 2021 Pro Bowl selection. He is one of only three players since 2019 to record over 500 tackles and 20 sacks, a testament to his consistency and dominance on the field. In 2020, White had a career-best season, posting 140 tackles (5th in the NFL), 9.0 sacks (tied for 4th among linebackers), and 15 tackles for loss (tied for 3rd in the NFL), helping the Buccaneers secure a Super Bowl LV victory.

Before entering the NFL, White had a standout college career at LSU, where he was a two-time captain and earned several accolades, including the Butkus Award and consensus All-American honors in 2018. He totaled 286 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks in 38 games with the Tigers.

The Raiders’ signing of White is a significant move to bolster their linebacker corps, adding a proven playmaker with an impressive track record. With his leadership and skill set, White will be a key contributor to the Raiders’ defense in the upcoming season.
