Las Vegas Raiders could soon be marking another quarterback target off of their list but not because they want to

Posted on May 29, 2025

The decision on what quarterback they want is going to get a lot easier pretty soon for the Las Vegas Raiders. At least, that’s certainly how it seems. The Raiders need one for 2025, and the options are dwindling away.

There was a pipe dream a few weeks ago, a dream that would never happen but felt very possible for the Raiders to trade for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. He would be without a doubt the best option for the Raiders this offseason — a guy who won a Super Bowl a few years ago and still has so much left. Obviously the Rams extended him and he plans on being in LA even longer.

Then there is Sam Darnold, who still can become a free agent and still has a chance to land with the Raiders, but there are reports that the Minnesota Vikings really want to bring him back, and are trying to make a deal happen. that doesn’t mean it will work that way, but it’s the way things are leaning.

Russell Wilson, the former Seattle Seahawks QB under Pete Carroll who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year and the Denver Broncos before that, seems to have some interest there, but does Carroll? Their relationship ended weirdly in Seattle.

And Aaron Rodgers, who spent the last two years disappointing New York Jets fans with insane expectations of him, is now a free agent. And, he would be a great option as a bridge quarterback. But, it seems he wants to stay in New York, and not with the Jets.

Raiders may lose opportunity to sign Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers was a name that the Raiders could have been interested in due to what we have seen play out over the last few offseasons. And, well, the Raiders could likely offer him a pretty decent contract given how much money they have. But, it’s starting to seem like they won’t be doing that.
