In a heartfelt tribute to one of the most dominant and respected players in franchise history, the Las Vegas Raiders have announced plans to erect a statue of Hall of Famer Howie Long outside of Allegiant Stadium. The announcement comes as a long-overdue recognition of Long’s lasting legacy and contribution to the silver and black during a transformative era in team history.

Long, who played his entire 13-season NFL career with the Raiders, was a cornerstone of the team’s feared defense in the 1980s. A relentless force on the defensive line, he was known for his tenacity, intelligence, and explosive play style. His efforts helped lead the Raiders to a Super Bowl XVIII victory, cementing his place among the all-time greats.

“Howie embodied everything it means to be a Raider,” said team owner Mark Davis in a press release. “Toughness, loyalty, and the will to win. He’s not just one of the greatest defensive players we’ve ever had—he’s part of the soul of this franchise. It’s time the world sees that legacy cast in stone.”

Howie Long, now a respected NFL analyst and media personality, expressed deep gratitude and humility following the announcement. “This franchise gave me everything—a chance, a brotherhood, and a family. To be honored in this way, where generations of fans will pass by and remember the battles we fought, it means more than I can say.”

The statue, expected to be unveiled during the upcoming NFL season, will feature Long in his iconic No. 75 uniform, frozen in a powerful stance that reflects both his physical dominance and leadership. The Raiders organization is working closely with sculptors to ensure the statue captures Long’s intensity and passion for the game.

Long becomes just the second player in team history to receive such an honor, following the legendary Al Davis statue already standing tall outside the stadium.

For fans, former teammates, and the entire Raider Nation, the tribute to Howie Long is more than a statue—it’s a celebration of an era where grit ruled the gridiron, and No. 75 led the charge
