BREAKING:Caitlin Clark set another record with the largest WNBA crowd since 1999 against the Aces

Posted on July 4, 2024

Record numbers continue to be drawn by Caitlin Clark. She continues to do so in the WNBA, just as she did at Iowa. Tuesday’s WNBA regular season game between Clark’s Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces garnered 20,366 spectators, the highest attendance for a WNBA game since 1999.

The game was shifted from the Michelob Ultra Arena, which has 12,000 seats, the home of the defending champion Aces, to T-Mobile Arena, which is home to the Golden Knights of the NHL.

In the end, the Fever fell short in front of a large audience, 88-69.

Clark struggled from three-point range, making just one of her seven tries, but she still ended with 13 points and 11 assists.

When Clark visits the area, a large number of fans show up. The attendance for Tuesday’s game exceeded that of the Washington Mystics game in June, which drew 20,333 fans to Capital One Arena.

On Tuesday night, Clark was selected to the WNBA All-Star squad despite having a difficult debut campaign. Before the Paris Olympics, she will play alongside fellow rookie Angel Reese for squad WNBA against the U.S. women’s squad.

Clark will be joined by two of her Fever colleagues on the WNBA All-Star team: guard Kelsey Mitchell and forward Aaliyah Boston.

“Obviously, it’s cool for me to do this in my first year,” Clark said to the media. “I’m really fortunate to be with these two. It’s significant for our franchise as well as, in my opinion, it only demonstrates the quality that we have and how we’re gradually assembling it. The future appears bright.
