Tiger Woods has been furiously Withdrawn from 2025 Genesis Invitational After seriously involved in a Hit – and – Run Incident

Tiger Woods announced Monday on social media that he won’t be playing The Genesis Invitational this week at San Diego’s at the Torrey Pines Golf Course after the death of his mother last week.

Kultida Woods, 80, died on Tuesday, Feb. 4. A cause of death was not publicly announced.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” Tiger said in a statement last week. “My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom.”

Woods last played competitively at the 2024 Open Championship. He is the host at the Genesis Invitational—his TGR Foundation runs the event—and was originally expected to make his return to competitive play this week.

The 49-year-old played in just five events last year. He withdrew from The Genesis Invitational after just two rounds, finished 60th at The Masters and missed the cut at all three of the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and the Open Championship.

The Genesis Invitational will be played between Feb. 13–16. It was originally scheduled to be played at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA but had to be moved due to the devastating wildfires in the region.
