Posted on April 11, 2025

Multiple sources informed ESPN that Chapman has agreed to a one-year, $10.75 million deal, pending a physical.

The left-hander hinted at the move himself, sharing a photo on social media wearing a Red Sox cap with the caption, “Let’s go!”

Aroldis Chapman, 36, made his MLB debut in 2010 as a 22-year-old phenom with the Cincinnati Reds, famously clocking a 105.8 mph fastball as a rookie. Over his 14-year career, he has pitched for several teams, including the Reds (2010-2015), Chicago Cubs (2016), New York Yankees (2016-2022), Kansas City Royals (2023), Texas Rangers (2023), and Pittsburgh Pirates (2024).

A seven-time All-Star and recipient of the 2019 AL Rivera Reliever Award, Chapman has also earned two World Series rings, one with the Cubs in 2016 and another with the Rangers.

In his single season with the Pirates, Chapman recorded a 5-5 record with a 3.79 ERA, 14 saves, and 98 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings in 68 appearances.

Throughout his career, Chapman boasts a 55-45 record, a 2.63 ERA, and 335 saves in 796 games.
