Brandon Graham blindsides Eagles fans in best possible way after retiring from NFL

Posted on April 11, 2025

It still kind of gives us chills when we think about it. Seeing Brandon Graham sit between two Lombardi Trophies to announce his Philadelphia Eagles career has ended felt like the prefect storybook ending.

Don’t look now, but he may be in the early stages of constructing a follow-up novel. May we interest you in Brandon Graham’s Swan Song – The Sequel?

Eagles legend Brandon Graham announces he’s only 90% retired.

Most of us will never know what it’s like to experience the thrill of being in an NFL locker room when the media and cameras are finally ushered out. We do, however, know some of you are annoyed when players waffle about whether or not they’ll keep playing. We get it, but we also understand where they are coming from.

It must be hard to close the book on something you’ve done for so long, right?

After 15 Eagles seasons, B.G. can straddle the fence, even if he has promised his career has ended. During a recent appearance on Up & Adams, the legend announced he’s only 90% retired.

But, then there was another interview. Graham appeared on New Heights with Travis and Jason Kelce and told them he talked to Howie Roseman, and Philly’s GM told him this was a “fairytale” ending.

We can’t answer these questions for him, but we sort of feel he’s done. He has to be done, right? Then again, this is B.G. we’re talking about. Nothing shocks us anymore.

It’s hard to imagine what he still feels he has to prove at this point, but again, he’s played this game since his youth. Maybe that internal clock is beginning to tell him it’s time to get in shape and lift a few pounds.

From a resume standpoint, you won’t find many that are better: His 218 career games are the most by any Bird in franchise history (we included his dozen postseason contests in that tally).

He has logged over 500 tackles and 82 sacks during the regular and postseason. He’s a two-time Super Bowl champion, 2016 Second-Team All-Pro, and a 2020 Pro Bowler.

He’s also the author of the greatest strip-sack in the history of football’s biggest game. We see this as one of the greatest walk-away acts in the history of modern sports. We wouldn’t add anything else by returning, but again, this is a member of ‘The Core Four’. Those guys (B.G., Fletcher Cox, Jason Kelce. and Lane Johnson) can pretty much do whatever they want in our eyes!
