The Las Vegas Raiders are still searching for elite help at the wide receiver position. Outside of Jakobi Meyers, the team has lacked consistency and high-level production from its pass-catching corps. Providing quarterback Geno Smith with another dependable target has become a top priority.
Although the team could turn to the draft to fill this gap, Andrew Buller-Russ of Sportsnaut suggests a more aggressive approach: acquiring Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill.
“By bringing in Geno Smith, the Raiders have already made strides on offense. Pairing him with rookie sensation Brock Bowers adds another weapon, but the receiving group remains thin. Tre Tucker brings blazing speed similar to Hill’s, but a veteran like Hill could elevate the overall unit and help younger players develop,” Buller-Russ noted.
Trade rumors have followed Hill throughout the offseason. After a disappointing 2024 campaign, he voiced dissatisfaction following the Dolphins’ Week 18 defeat against the New York Jets, indicating a desire to leave the team. Although he later walked back those comments, the tension between player and franchise suggests a potential parting of ways may be best for both sides.
Adding Hill to the mix would dramatically improve Las Vegas’ offensive firepower. Despite being in his early 30s, the eight-time Pro Bowler remains one of the league’s most dangerous deep threats, known for his rare speed and ability to break open a game. He’d complement Meyers and Bowers well, giving Smith an explosive option downfield.
However, such a move wouldn’t come without risk. Hill’s recent season didn’t meet expectations, and his off-field history raises questions about whether head coach Pete Carroll would welcome him into the locker room. Still, his talent is undeniable, and if the Raiders are serious about contending, this kind of move could push them into a new tier offensively.
