Bears’ Caleb Williams Just Showed How Disrespectful He Is To Coaches (Report)

Posted on April 13, 2025

The Chicago Bears have invested their future into quarterback Caleb Williams. They chose to move on from Justin Fields and took Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That decision took Chicago’s franchise in a different direction.

Chicago’s coaching staff received a major overhaul this past off-season as well. However, Williams didn’t exactly have good things to say about his previous coaching staff.

Bears’ Caleb Williams Just Showed How Disrespectful He Is To Coaches (Report)

During a recent interview, rookie Caleb Williams didn’t hold back when discussing his old coach, Matt Eberflus:

Caleb told the Chicago Sun-Times that Eberflus’ handling of the circumstances did not go down well in the locker room, although he credits the 12 losses from his rookie campaign with helping him grow.

“How [Eberflus] handled it at that time, for that game (against Washington), was, I think, one of the things that throughout the locker room people talked about and were annoyed by,” Williams said.

He added:

“I think those losses were pretty important for me and my growth. To go on a losing streak, to be in this position and be at the helm of it, was definitely important for me. Just being able to see how I need to be when times are bad… I’m going to work my tail off to never be in that situation again.”

Eberflus was fired about a month after that loss, and the Bears went on to finish the season with five wins. He has since been replaced by Ben Johnson.

As for Caleb Williams, the former USC star put up decent numbers, throwing for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions on 62.5 percent passing in his first pro season.
