Former Bears WR Blasts Organization for Being ‘Trash’ in Fiery Comments

Posted on April 14, 2025

The Chicago Bears have long been known to have a dysfunctional organization, though hopefully things will change now that Ben Johnson is head coach and Matt Eberflus has been kicked to the curb.

Eberflus’ poor decisions reflected a larger issue with how the Bears have approached game situations in recent years, and the repeated string of terrible coaching isn’t lost on former players.

In fact, one ex-Bear who never played a game with the organization just made new comments slamming Chicago.

Victor Cruz bashed the Chicago Bears recently on a podcast. He says a couple bad things about the organization.

Former Bears WR Victor Cruz Slams Chicago in Surprise Comments

Appearing on the “Rory & Mal” podcast, former Bears WR Victor Cruz didn’t mince words.

“I’m like, I’m going to the Bears, a heralded organization, been around for 100 years…They absolutely run a high-level organization there, ” Cruz said. “I got there and I was looking around, I was like, ‘this s— is trash. Food was trash, ownership was trash, coaching staff was trash…It was just awful.”

Those are fierce comments from someone who accumulated 1,532 receiving yards in just his second campaign with the New York Giants. Cruz was part of the 2017 Bears before being cut prior to the season and while he may not have been around for longer than a cup of coffee, he clearly saw what many fans already believed was true for the last decade.

The Bears have a reputational problem. Johnson was an excellent hire not only because of his on-field acumen, but he also can restore Chicago’s perception in league circles. The general thought to this point was that no one in the team’s brass knows what they’re doing, so Johnson has a special opportunity to flip the script and bring this historic franchise back to relevance.

Regardless, it’s clear that Cruz hated his time with the Bears. Perhaps he’s merely upset that he didn’t make the roster, though it’s clear that the organization has work to do to repair a broken reputation, made even worse by Eberflus’ embarrassing in-game mistakes last year.

It’s a lot to put on Johnson’s shoulders, yet it appears that he’s up for the job.
