It’s Official: The Chiefs Say Goodbye to a Legend- Former Chief Center Announces His Retirement from Football

Posted on April 15, 2025

A former Kansas City Chiefs center decided to call it a career on Thursday.

2015 second-round draft pick Mitch Morse — who played four seasons with the Chiefs before moving on to the Buffalo Bills and later the Jacksonville Jaguars — announced his retirement via his official Instagram account.

“The things I’ll remember and cherish most about my career are the relationships and bonds I created with my teammates, both on and off of the field,” wrote the 32-year-old. “Nothing can replace that, and I will miss it dearly.

I want to thank the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars for ten unforgettable seasons. Most of all, I want to thank my wife, Catilin, and my children Kennedy and Deacon for their constant love and support on this journey. I look forward to spending more time with them as I navigate retirement.”

From 2015-18 in Kansas City, Morse started 49 regular-season and three playoff games. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a member of the Bills in 2022.
