Breaking: Cubs Strengthens Squad with New Signing Of Another Power Threat.

Posted on April 16, 2025

A former Tigers infielder is back with a familiar organization as he looks to become an MLB regular for the first time in nearly seven years.

Dixon Machado signed with the Cubs this week on a minor league deal, according to the team’s transactions.

This will be Machado’s third stint with the Cubs. He first signed with the team in 2019, following his stint with the Tigers, then was part of the organization again in 2022.

Machado played in 172 games for the Tigers over four seasons from 2015-18, hitting .227.

He’s played in just five big league games since during a 2022 stint with the Giants. The rest of his time has been spent in the minor leagues and overseas.

After a year in Iowa with Chicago’s AAA affiliate, Machado went to South Korea for two years, where he played 278 games in the KBO. He spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons in Houston’s minor league system.
