With the 2025 NFL Draft less than two weeks away, the mock drafts and the speculation are running wild. 32 teams are making franchise-altering decisions, and everyone wants to know their plans. Here’s one question for every team going into the 2025 Draft. Let’s start with the NFC North.
Chicago Bears: Can They Build Around Caleb Williams?
The Chicago Bears finally have their franchise quarterback. After years of purgatory, Caleb Williams seems to be just what the Chicago doctors ordered. Now with new head coach Ben Johnson coming in, there’s no reason Williams can’t reach his potential.
To say Johnson is an offensive guru is an understatement. His ability to draw up plays, play to everyone’s strengths, and confuse defenses is unmatched in the NFL. Is Chicago’s offense ready for that?
The short answer is yes. The offensive line was painful to watch last season, Williams was unable to build chemistry with his receivers, and Rome Odunze became an afterthought.
Ben Johnson loaded up the offensive line, he will surely get Odunze more involved, and he should draft weapons. Penn State tight end Tyler Warren would be a perfect fit for Chicago, or maybe UNC running back Omarion Hampton.
The Bears are in a terrific position and could see a turnaround similar to last year’s Commanders. Let Ben Johnson cook, and Caleb Williams will be successful.
Detroit Lions: Is This A Fresh Start?
The Lions are going into 2025 with new offensive and defensive coordinators. Dan Campbell isn’t concerned, but this team might have a new identity this year.
Without Ben Johnson’s playcalling or Aaron Glenn’s defensive mind, the Lions are going to change in a big way. So maybe it’s time to treat it as such.
The roster suffered injuries all year, and it cost them in the playoffs. They need to add depth in this draft but also start making adjustments. The hard-headed playstyle is what put them on the bench, they have the talent to move away from that.
The Lions will go through some changes, and that might come with pain. Treat this draft as an opportunity to look ahead, and start planning for a different future.
