MAJOR BREAKING: Chicago Cubs Dealing With Concerning Injury To Key Player Following Big Win Over Dodgers.

Posted on April 17, 2025

Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki left Saturday night’s blowout 16-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers with what the team described as right wrist pain. Suzuki, who has been a crucial part of the Cubs’ offense in the early part of the season, first reported discomfort during the team’s recent series against the Oakland Athletics. The issue flared up again during Saturday’s game, prompting the Cubs to pull him out as a precaution.

Suzuki was serving as the designated hitter when he exited the game. He was replaced by Miguel Amaya, who stepped up in a big way with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, including a home run and three RBIs. While the Cubs were thrilled with the offensive explosion that night, all eyes quickly turned to Suzuki’s health and what it might mean moving forward.

The 30-year-old outfielder has been a force at the plate through the first 17 games of the season, slashing .292/.390/.538 with four home runs and 15 RBIs. His production has been instrumental in the Cubs’ 10-7 start and their current position atop the NL Central. A potential absence, even for a short stretch, would be a significant loss for a Chicago team that is already battling other key injuries.

No immediate update was provided on Suzuki’s condition following the game. Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that the team would further evaluate the wrist on Sunday and determine whether imaging is needed. The lack of initial clarity leaves fans and the team waiting anxiously for more information as they prepare for upcoming series.

The injury comes at a tough time for Chicago, who recently placed starting pitcher Justin Steele on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow tendinitis. The Cubs have managed to stay competitive despite these setbacks, thanks to solid depth and timely contributions from bench players like Amaya. Still, the loss of a bat like Suzuki’s could test that depth in the coming weeks.

For now, the Cubs will monitor Suzuki’s wrist and hope that the discomfort turns out to be minor. With the team showing early signs of playoff potential, keeping one of their top offensive contributors healthy will be essential. The Cubs are expected to release more information on Suzuki’s status ahead of their next matchup.
