Mocking the Mocks: Dan Brugler’s 7-Round Bears Draft Breakdown

Posted on April 17, 2025

Last week, Dane Brugler of *The Athletic* released his massive NFL Draft guide, “The Beast,” followed by a complete seven-round mock draft. He made selections for every team based on needs, draft trends, and scheme fits across the league.

Round 1, Pick 10: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Brugler projects Penn State tight end Tyler Warren to the Bears at No. 10. While some fans may question selecting a tight end this high, Brugler highlights Warren’s versatility. New OC Ben Johnson runs plenty of “12” personnel, which would allow both Warren and Cole Kmet to be on the field. Warren could be used in motion, flexed wide, in the backfield, or as a key piece in play-action. His dynamic skill set could mirror Sam LaPorta’s impact in Detroit.

Remaining Bears Picks in Brugler’s Mock:

Round 2 (39): TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State
Round 2 (41): Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
Round 3 (72): Jack Sawyer, Edge, Ohio State
Round 5 (148): Jaylen Reed, S, Penn State
Round 7 (233): Cody Lindenberg, LB, Minnesota
Round 7 (240):  Kyonte Hamilton, DT, Rutgers

Henderson adds speed and versatility to the backfield, complementing D’Andre Swift. Ersery gives depth at tackle, and Sawyer brings edge-rushing upside. Later picks like Hamilton, who boasts a wrestling background, bring developmental value and strength to the trenches.

Overall, Brugler’s mock addresses the Bears’ key needs while sticking closely to the draft board.
