PFF Labels Dolphins as One of Worst Units Heading Into Draft

Posted on April 18, 2025

The Miami Dolphins are in a mess when it comes to addressing team needs before the 2025 NFL Draft.

It doesn’t help that they’ve got to find a replacement for seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey after the two sides agreed to separate in a trade. There were other positions in the secondary and on defense Miami needed help with.

The Dolphins have a big problem at a key position unit, once again, at the offensive line. Miami lost its starting left tackle this offseason in Terron Armstead (injury and retirement). They will go into the 2025 NFL Draft with two, possibly three, big question marks at the offensive line.

New right guard James Daniels (92.9) and center Aaron Brewer (73.3) are two projected starting offensive linemen who earned an overall grade of more than 60 from PFF last season. Daniels only played four games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season in week four before suffering a torn achilles.

Patrick Paul (44.9) was underwhelming at left tackle last season filling in for the injured Armstead. Guard Liam Eichenberg (53.1) was disappointing for another season, but the team re-signed him to a two-year deal. Finally, right tackle Austin Jackson (60) was average for another season. Considering Jackson is the blindside blocker for left-handed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Jackson isn’t playing great is concerning.

The Dolphins will need to find a new starting guard to compete with Eichenberg. Even though Paul is only going into his second season might not be good enough to keep him in contention for the starting left tackle position. Miami might have used multiple early picks addressing their offensive line, considering they have issues in the secondary.
