Philadelphia Eagles Lost Out On Trade To Dallas Cowboys: Report

Posted on April 18, 2025

Depth in trenches was one of the main reasons the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl in February. The Eagles had a solid offensive line and a defensive line that had waves of pass rushers.

While the Eagles have plenty of talent in the trenches, the team has depth issues elsewhere this offseason. Philadelphia traded QB2 Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Besides Jalen Hurts, the Eagles also have Tanner McKee on the roster at quarterback. McKee and Thompson-Robinson aren’t great options for an Eagles team that puts Hurts in a precarious injury situation every time they run the “tush push” (or at least that s what the NFL thinks).

The Eagles reportedly lost on a quarterback to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys traded for a QB

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Dallas Cowboys were able to use a fifth-round pick to secure New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton.

“Sources: The #Patriots are trading QB Joe Milton to the Cowboys in exchange for late-round draft pick compensation,” Rapoport posted on X. “A new backup for Dak Prescott, Milton went 22 of 29 for 241 yards and a TD in Week 18 last year, a New England win. The potential is there. Now, a new home.”

Per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the Eatles were interested in trading for Milton.

Per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Patriots turned down better offers for Milton because the former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback requested a trade to a team that he had a better chance to start for. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is still recovering from his season-ending injury from 2024.

“My understanding is since Joe Milton became available at the start of the offseason, teams that showed interest included the Raiders, Eagles, Giants, Steelers and the Cowboys,” Schultz posted on X. “The Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect for him, per source.”

Now, the Eagles might have to prepare to face Milton in the future.
