Jerry Harkins’ Colts 7 Round Mock Draft 1.0

Posted on April 18, 2025

The 2025 NFL draft is 7 days away, It will be held April 24-26 at Lambeau Field. The Indianapolis Colts have 7 picks beginning with No. 14 in round 1. I will be mocking the 7 picks the Colts have and making the picks based on team needs. I will also not have any trades in this mock even though General Manager Chris Ballard is known to trade back. Let’s dive in, shall we.

Round 1- Pick- 14

Tyler Warren- TE, Penn State

This pick is who I hope is still available at 14. The only problem with that is all the free agency moves the teams ahead of the Colts have done. This would be a best-case scenario for the Colts. I also could see Ballard trading back to extra picks on the back end of the draft. Warren’s numbers during his last season at Penn State were 104 rec, 1,233 receiving yards, and 8 touchdowns.

Round 2- Pick- 48

Carson Schwesinger- LB, UCLA

This pick will add linebacker depth to a defense that lost EJ Speed to the Texans in free agency. This guy would probably start week 1 he is that good. In his junior season, he had 136 total tackles and 4 sacks. He also added 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions. This player will come in and start week 1.

Round 3- Pick- 80

Jared Wilson- IOL, Georgia

This pick is a pick to help with the holes in the offensive line left by center Ryan Kelly and Will Fries. In 2024, on 475 pass block snaps, he allowed no sacks. For a third-round value, he will be a great depth at center and be able to play guard, To add a versatile lineman like this is amazing.

Round 4- Pick- 117

JJ Pegues- DT, Ole Miss

Pegues is one of the most versatile players in this draft. The Colts will take him here. This pick will add much-needed depth behind DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart. Pegues was not always a defensive tackle. He was a tight end. That means he also can be used on offense. At the combine, he partook in full back drills.

Round 5- Pick- 152

Will Howard- QB, Ohio State

This pick is to add a third-string QB behind Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. Howard had a great showing in his College Football Playoff run. He threw for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and had an 89.6 QBR. That was first in the FBS. Howard will be a great quarterback. He will look to learn and hopefully get an opportunity to play.

Round 6- Pick- 189

Jacory Croskey-Merritt- RB, Arizona

I know this pick is crazy with Jonathan Taylor and Khalil Herbert on the team but adding a third running back is the play here. This young man was very productive in Arizona. He had eligibility issues last season and only played in one game. If not for that, he could be the second-best back behind Ashton Jeanty. In his 2023 season at New Mexico, he rushed for 1,190 yards and 17 touchdowns. This is a late-round steal for the Colts.

Round 7- Pick- 232

Dalton Cooper- OT, Oklahoma State

This pick is another depth player after losing 2 starters in free agency. Adding offensive linemen is a smart play. Cooper is 6-foot-7 and moves way better than what his size would say. Ballard has a great track record of hitting on linemen late. Most forget Ballard drafted Fries in the 7th round. He is a $90 million man now. This pick would all gain no loss and could be a starter.

Final Thoughts

The NFL Draft starts on April 24. If Warren is not there at 14, that will change what the Colts do. I believe they will draft a tight end and offensive line. I also would not be surprised if Ballard makes a couple of trades to move back and add picks. The NFL Draft is only 7 days away. Stay tuned to Total Apex Media for all things Colts and NFL Draft.
