Chiefs fans will love what Josh Allen said to Patrick Mahomes after AFC Championship

Posted on April 21, 2025

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship to advance to another Super Bowl, this time with a three-peat on the line. It was a riveting AFC title game with the teams trading blows and it, as all Chiefs games do, coming down to the wire.

Ultimately, Mahomes’ experience in the postseason helped propel the Chiefs to Super Bowl LIX while Allen and his Bills are in the early stages of their offseason. Immediately following the game, Mahomes and Allen embraced on the field and had a respectful conversation.

Mahomes told Allen that he had one “hell of a year”. Allen then told Mahomes, “Go get another one.”

Josh Allen to Patrick Mahomes: “Go get another one.”

If Mahomes and the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX, the former 10th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft will have four Super Bowl wins on his resume before he even turns 30. That’s one hell of an accomplishment.

As for Allen, he and the Bills have yet to get to the Super Bowl but this is the closest they had gotten since the 2020 season when they also lost in the AFC Championship to the Chiefs. Kansas City has ended Buffalo’s season in four of the last five years and that has to be beyond frustrating for Allen and the rest of the Bills squad.

That being said, anytime these two teams square off, we know it’s going to be a battle. Eventually the Bills are going to break through and get to that Super Bowl, but for now, Allen telling a guy who continously has ended his season time and time again is a classy move. He could have just said, “Nice job” and moved on but he clearly respects Mahomes.

Chiefs fans can be annoyed with Allen all they want but the rivalry these two have built feels similar to what Tom Brady and Peyton Manning had in the 2000s. A fierce rivalry built on respect.

While the Brady/Manning rivalry mostly favored Brady, Manning did get past him a few times and won a few Super Bowls of his own. Right now, the Mahomes/Allen rivalry has consisted of Allen’s Bills winning in the regular season and then Mahomes’ Chiefs winning in the playoffs where it really counts. Chiefs fans are perfectly fine if that’s the way this rivalry continues to play out.
