6 Patriots selections make ESPN’s 100 best draft picks list

Posted on May 3, 2025

The New England Patriots have once again made headlines for their impressive drafting history, with six of their selections being featured on ESPN’s recently released list of the 100 best NFL draft picks of all time. The list, which evaluates players based on value, impact, and career longevity, highlights the Patriots’ knack for finding game-changing talent through the draft process.

Unsurprisingly, legendary quarterback Tom Brady — selected 199th overall in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft — leads the group. Widely regarded as the greatest draft steal in NFL history, Brady’s inclusion was a given, considering his seven Super Bowl titles and countless records.

Joining Brady on the list are other standout Patriots picks, including wide receiver Julian Edelman, who was drafted in the seventh round in 2009. Though originally a college quarterback, Edelman transitioned seamlessly to receiver and became a postseason legend, earning Super Bowl MVP honors.

The list also includes Hall of Fame defensive end Richard Seymour, linebacker Tedy Bruschi, tight end Rob Gronkowski, and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork — all pillars of the Patriots’ dominance in the 2000s and 2010s. Each player brought exceptional talent, leadership, and consistency, helping the team build its dynasty under head coach Bill Belichick.

The recognition further cements New England’s legacy as one of the most well-managed teams in draft history. With six players in the top 100, the Patriots continue to prove their eye for elite talent and long-term success.
