The 10-year NFL veteran who spent his last two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers has retired from the league for a specific purpose.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Conley is returning to the University of Georgia to go to film school with the hopes of becoming a film maker.
Conley, whose retirement announcement was posted on Instagram on Saturday, fulfilled his stated goal of playing 10 seasons in the NFL.
It started as the 76th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Georgia.
Conley spent four seasons with his first team, the Kansas City Chiefs. There, he caught 104 passes for 1,238 yards and six TDs.
The 6-foot-3 wideout then spent time with the Jaguars, Texans, Titans and finished with two 49ers seasons.
Conley played 23 games with the 49ers, catching nine passes for 145 yards.
In his entire NFL career, Conley finished with 226 catches for 2,998 yards and 15 TDs.
Now, Conley moves on to the next stage of his life.
His NFL career may not have quite been a movie, but it was a decade well spent anyway.
