Is Aaron Rodgers more interested in playing in California than he is with the Pittsburgh Steelers? That’s exactly what Colin Cowherd, anchor and analyst for Fox Sports, is hearing.
He thinks Rodgers will wait to see if any other positions become available and has no intention of signing with the Steelers unless it is his last resort. Rodgers, a four-time MVP, specifically wants to play for the San Francisco 49ers, according to Cowherd.
“I informed you. “It’s fools gold that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t buy Pittsburgh,” Cowherd stated on The Herd. Two needy receivers, a poor offensive line, a defensive coach, and the loss of Najee Harris.
And now we are. Aaron Rodgers is merely biding his time. It seems like the correct thing to do. If the [Brock] Purdy contract doesn’t work out, I think he wants to move to Minnesota or San Francisco. I believe he has good reason to desire it.
He shouldn’t sign in Pittsburgh, in my opinion. Brock Purdy, a member of the 49ers, is currently negotiating a contract with San Francisco. The 49ers have made Purdy their long-term quarterback, and he wants a big contract. Purdy was named a Pro Bowler in 2023.
Even into the future, San Francisco still has a significant amount of money to transfer and sell in order to make the Purdy extension beneficial to them in the long run.
However, it is unlikely that they will let him go, and signing Rodgers does not suit that scenario either. But a month after Rodgers’ visit to Pittsburgh, the Steelers are still waiting.
At the NFL Owners Meetings two weeks ago, head coach Mike Tomlin stated that the Steelers did not approach it from a “deadline-perspective.” The team will “wait a little while longer,” according to team president Art Rooney II, but they did not expect it to take so long.
