Aaron Glenn gets honest about the harsh reality facing the Jets in 2025

Posted on April 9, 2025

After falling on their face in an attempt to build a championship contender with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, the New York Jets are starting a rebuild with former Pro Bowl cornerback and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in charge as head coach.

Asking for patience with a fanbase that hasn’t even made the playoffs since 2010 and has gone a decade without a winning season is a tough ask, but that’s the only arrow Glenn has in his quiver after the roster was decimated in the offseason.

To hear Glenn say it on the first day of Jets voluntary workouts, he is more concerned about establishing a winning environment for the future than he is with trying to make any noise in the 2025 season.

“To me, it’s a process, and I’ve talked to our staff about this,” Glenn said, via the New York Post. “I’m not here to talk about the playoffs. I’m not here to talk about the Super Bowl when the players first get in…The two things I want to make sure we do first and foremost is establish the culture that we’ve been talking about and try to create a building environment.”

Aaron Glenn confirms culture will be more important than wins for NY Jets in 2025

No one questions the fact that building a culture is important, as the Jets’ extremely talented roster was unable to string wins together. However, it seems like fans will have to endure another tough season as Glenn starts laying the groundwork.

While the ceiling with Justin Fields under center is very high if he puts it altogether, the floor could be so wretched that the Jets end up in the Arch Manning sweepstakes. The team still has holes to fill at tight end, wide receiver, and right tackle, not all of which may be addressed in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Glenn is a great motivator and leader, but it may be tough to get fans interested in his plan when his debut season seems to be already getting these diehards prepared for yet another double-digit loss campaign. The Jets have not won more than seven games since 2015, and it may be tough to do so in 2025.

While such a rebuild may have been expected after the whole Rodgers mistake, and Glenn has tons of positive goodwill in this fanbase, that enthusiasm may not carry over to 2025 if the losses begin to pile up.
