Aaron Rodgers’ short marriage with the New York Jets did not produce the franchise’s desired result as it went all in to acquire the future Pro Football Hall of Famer from the Green Bay Packers in 2023
The end of his tenure with the Jets did not even seem purely amicable, with the free agent quarterback recently appearing on the “Pat McAfee Show” and saying that New York head coach Aaron Glenn should have just told him about his fate with the team over the phone instead of letting him fly “across the country” to meet the team only to get basically fired from his job “20 seconds” into the conversation.
Well, Glenn was asked during the 2025 NFL draft for a reaction to Rodgers’ claim, but didn’t directly address the topic, instead opting to praise the Jets’ first-round pick, offensive tackle Armand Membou.
Absolutely. Membou’s a really good player, & I’m so excited that he’s a Jet,” Glenn said
Rodgers spent two seasons with the Jets, but played just one full campaign with them. He infamously suffered a brutal season-ending injury just moments into his first appearance with New York in 2023. In 2024, Rodgers had a 5-12 QB record, passing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions across 17 appearances.
As for the Jets, they have a new-look quarterback room that is headed by offseason pickup Justin Fields, along with Tyrod Taylor, Jordan Travis and Adrian Martinez.
