Boomer Esiason Blasts Caleb Williams—Is the Rookie Already Rubbing People the Wrong Way?
Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and NFL analyst Boomer Esiason didn’t hold back when talking about Caleb Williams, the Bears’ #1 overall draft pick and new franchise QB. On a recent broadcast, Esiason called Williams “entitled” and had some sharp advice for the young signal-caller:
> “Keep your mouth shut. You’re going into the greatest league that there’s ever been for the sport we all love. You’re going to have a chance one day to make $500 million because guys like me and guys before me all went on strike so you could actually make more money. So keep your piehole shut and go out and play football and earn your keep and earn your respect.”
Strong words, no doubt—but is Esiason speaking from a place of tough-love veteran wisdom, or is he out of touch with the confidence and branding power that comes with being a top pick in today’s NFL?
Caleb has certainly made headlines with his style, his swagger, and his approach to the pre-draft process. But now that he’s officially leading the Bears into a new era, all eyes will be on how he handles the pressure—on and off the field.
Bears fans, what do you think? Is Boomer right to call him out, or should the old guard let the new generation play their game their way?
