BREAKING: Eagles reached agreement today on a one-year deal with former Chiefs free-agent LB Joshua Uche, who now will try to help replace Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham

Posted on April 16, 2025

The Philadelphia Eagles moved to reinforce their pass rush on Thursday, reaching a one-year agreement with former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Joshua Uche, according to sources familiar with the deal. The signing, negotiated by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln, aims to fill the void left by departing stars Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham.

Uche, 26, joins the defending Super Bowl LIX champions after a brief stint with the Chiefs, where he notched 2 sacks in 6 games during the 2024 season. Previously traded from the New England Patriots in October 2024, the former second-round pick brings a proven spark—highlighted by his 11.5-sack breakout in 2022—to an Eagles defense looking to reload.

The move comes as Philadelphia adjusts to life without Sweat, who signed a 4-year, $76.4 million deal with the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week, and Graham, the 36-year-old veteran whose future remains uncertain after 15 seasons with the team. Uche’s speed and edge-rushing potential offer a short-term boost to a unit that led the NFL in sacks last year.

While financial terms weren’t disclosed, the one-year pact signals a low-risk, high-reward play by GM Howie Roseman. Uche will join young pass-rushers Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, with hopes of recapturing his 2022 form. Eagles fans can expect his debut in training camp this summer as the team eyes a Super Bowl LX repeat.
