Breaking News: Jets Bring in Battle-Tested Wide Receiver with Over 100 Starts – A Game-Changing Depth Addition

Posted on June 1, 2025

Over the last few months, the New York Jets have made massive changes to their franchise, including bringing in a new coaching staff and front office after firing their head coach and general manager in the middle of the 2024 season.

On top of those moves, New York replaced quarterback Aaron Rodgers with former first-round pick Justin Fields, who joined on a two-year, $40 million deal following a successful stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They also cut Davante Adams, their top wideout last year, allowing him to sign with the Los Angeles Rams.

New York’s passing attack, which ranked 17th in the NFL in 2024 (218.5 passing yards per game) could see a serious drop off without Rodgers and Adams, so the Jets should be doing whatever they can to surround Fields with more weapons

While there aren’t any game-changers left on the market, there are still some unsigned veterans who could help New York in 2025. That includes, Nelson Agholor, who SportsGrid’s Grant White recently listed as a top fit for the Jets.

Agholor, 32, was a first-round pick (No. 20 overall) of the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2015 NFL draft following three seasons at USC where he earned All-Pac-12 honors in his final two years.

In his five seasons with the Eagles, Agholor won a Super Bowl, but he never truly lived up to the expectations of a first-round pick.

After his time with Philadelphia came to an end, Agholor spent one season with the Las Vegas Raiders, two with the New England Patriots and two with the Baltimore Ravens.

In his 10 seasons in the NFL, Agholor has caught 389 passes for 4,858 yards and 37 touchdowns. However, last season was the least productive of his career, hauling in 14 receptions for just 231 yards and two touchdowns.

Agholor shouldn’t be a starter alongside Garrett Wilson, but he could be a decent third or fourth option with Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard and Tyler Johnson also in the mix. And for the money that he’ll probably get, it’s a move that New York should consider.
