Breaking News: New England Patriots to Honour David Andrews with Statue at Stadium Entrance on the 30th….

Posted on June 5, 2025

In a powerful tribute to a player who has come to embody the spirit and resilience of the New England Patriots, the organization has announced plans to erect a statue of longtime center David Andrews at the main entrance of Gillette Stadium. The decision honors not just a career defined by on-field excellence, but a legacy built on leadership, loyalty, and perseverance.

Since joining the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2015, Andrews has become a cornerstone of the franchise — both literally and figuratively. Anchoring the offensive line, he played a pivotal role in protecting Tom Brady during the team’s final Super Bowl-winning seasons and helped guide the team through its transitional phases in the years that followed. His steady presence in the locker room, tireless work ethic, and deep understanding of the Patriots’ culture made him an unofficial captain long before he wore the “C” on his chest.

Perhaps what has made Andrews so beloved by fans and teammates alike is his unshakable toughness. In 2019, a diagnosis of blood clots in his lungs forced him to sit out an entire season, casting doubt on the future of his playing career. But Andrews fought back, returning in 2020 to reclaim his role at the heart of the offensive line — a testament to both his physical determination and emotional grit. Through every challenge, he remained committed to the team and the community that embraced him.

“David embodies everything it means to be a Patriot,” said team owner Robert Kraft during the announcement. “He wasn’t just a great player — he was a leader, a mentor, and a fighter. This statue will stand as a symbol of his contribution not only to our team but to the values we hold dear.”

The statue, scheduled to be unveiled at the start of the 2025 NFL season, will depict Andrews in his game-day stance, helmet off, a nod to both the warrior and the man behind the facemask. Fans entering Gillette Stadium will pass by the statue as a daily reminder of the grit and heart that helped define a Patriots era.

In response to the announcement, Andrews expressed both humility and pride. “This is surreal,” he said. “I came here undrafted, just hoping to make the roster. I never imagined something like this. But I gave everything I had to this team, and to know it meant something — it’s the greatest honor I could ever receive.”

Indeed, in an organization known for dynasties, discipline, and doing your job, David Andrews rose to legend status the hard way — through character, commitment, and quiet leadership. Now, immortalized in bronze, his story will stand tall at the gates of Gillette for generations of Patriots fans to remember.
