Four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver has agreed to a three-year, $69 million contract with the New England Patriots, including $26 million in guaranteed money, sources informed ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Diggs, 31, suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Week 8 while playing for the Houston Texans but is expected to be ready for Week 1 of the upcoming season, according to a source.
Before his injury, Diggs ranked seventh in the league with 47 receptions and was second on the Texans in receiving yards with 496. Quarterback C.J. Stroud had a 104 passer rating and a 73% completion rate when targeting him.
The Patriots had initially pursued Chris Godwin in free agency in their search for a top-tier receiver to support second-year quarterback Drake Maye. However, after Godwin re-signed with Tampa Bay, New England shifted its focus to Diggs, hosting him for a visit last week before finalizing the deal.
Houston had acquired Diggs from the Buffalo Bills last year, and as part of that trade, the remaining three years of his contract were voided, making him eligible for free agency in 2025.
During his time with the Bills, Diggs set multiple team and league records, including becoming one of only four players in NFL history to record four straight seasons with at least 100 receptions—joining Antonio Brown, Davante Adams, and Marvin Harrison.
Originally a fifth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2015, Diggs has accumulated 857 receptions for 10,491 yards and 71 touchdowns (70 receiving) over his 10-year NFL career.
