Defensively, he was a finalist for the A.L. Gold Glove Award at second base. Lopez was briefly with the Cubs during Spring Training before opting out and joining the Angels, but he returned to Chicago after his release in April .
Drew Pomeranz, 36, has been selected to the Cubs’ roster after a lengthy absence from the majors due to arm injuries. He last pitched in 2021 and has since undergone multiple surgeries.
