Chicago Cubs indeed ‘shuffle’ up bullpen before Phillies’ game: Report

Posted on April 28, 2025

On Tuesday, Chicago Cubs president Jed Hoyer suggested the team would soon make a move with their bullpen amid injuries and pitching woes.

“I think we’ll continue to shuffle the bullpen — it’s the right thing to do,” Hoyer said. “We have a number of guys throwing well, so hopefully we’ll hit on some of them.”

The Cubs’ bullpen ranks 22nd in having an ERA of 4.34.

On Sunday, Chicago promoted a pitcher to the bullpen ahead of the final outing of a three-game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies at 6 p.m. CST. The Cubs won the first game of the series on Friday but lost 10-4 on Saturday.

Cosgrove has not played in the majors yet this season. He appeared in three games for Iowa in Triple-A. He gave up three hits, one walk, and recorded an ERA of 0.00 in four innings pitched.
