On Tuesday, Chicago Cubs president Jed Hoyer suggested the team would soon make a move with their bullpen amid injuries and pitching woes.
“I think we’ll continue to shuffle the bullpen — it’s the right thing to do,” Hoyer said. “We have a number of guys throwing well, so hopefully we’ll hit on some of them.”
The Cubs’ bullpen ranks 22nd in having an ERA of 4.34.
On Sunday, Chicago promoted a pitcher to the bullpen ahead of the final outing of a three-game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies at 6 p.m. CST. The Cubs won the first game of the series on Friday but lost 10-4 on Saturday.
The Chicago Cubs added Tom Cosgrove to the bullpen

Per Jacob Zanolla of Real Cubs Insider, Chicago is calling up Tom Cosgrove.
The Cubs traded with the San Diego Padres for Cosgrove on April 10.
Cosgrove appeared in 18 games in 2024, recording an ERA of 11.66 in 14.2 innings pitched. The 28-year-old has not pitched in the majors in 2025. Cosgrove earned an ERA of 1.75 during the 2023 campaign when he pitched 51.1 innings.
Cosgrove has not played in the majors yet this season. He appeared in three games for Iowa in Triple-A. He gave up three hits, one walk, and recorded an ERA of 0.00 in four innings pitched.
