Chiefs predicted to make trade with AFC powerhouse to fill biggest need…

Posted on April 19, 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense was embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles’ pass rush in the Super Bowl. They could be looking for an elite offensive line prospect in the draft.

The Chiefs have the 31st overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and they may have to trade up if they want to land a prospect they value highly. NFL.com’s Chad Reuter predicted they would make a trade with the Baltimore Ravens to move up four spots and select Aireontae Ersery.

Will Blackmon discusses his draft day memories ‘GMFB’

“Philadelphia’s domination of the line of scrimmage in the Super Bowl leads the Chiefs to find another tackle early in the draft, even after signing Jaylon Moore to a major free-agent deal,” wrote Reuter. “They send a third-round selection to Baltimore to bring in the big-bodied but agile Ersery — regaining some value by swapping second-round picks with the Ravens.”

Ersery is 6-6, 331 pounds. He could be a great addition to the offensive line. Moore’s versatility would allow him to slot in at another position if needed.

Last season, the Chiefs ended the year with Joe Thuney playing left tackle. After trading him to the Chicago Bears, the Chiefs will need to find a long-term solution.

Last season at the University of Minnesota, Ersery started 12 games at left tackle. He was named Third-Team Associated Press All-American, First-Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the year. If the Chiefs wait until the No.31 overall pick, they may not see Ersery available.

Trading up with the Raves to move up just a few spots could be the difference in adding an impact lineman and not.
