Collingwood Football Club has confirmed the long-anticipated return of club legend Nathan Buckley, who will now serve in a major off-field capacity as the club’s new Executive Chairman. The announcement was made official on Friday, marking a pivotal moment in the club’s leadership structure.
Buckley, a revered figure in Collingwood’s history, brings with him an unmatched legacy. A Brownlow Medalist in 2003, long-time club captain, and former senior coach, Buckley has worn nearly every hat at the Magpies. His return signifies more than just a new appointment—it represents a bold step toward stability, vision, and long-term success.
Club President Jeff Browne, speaking on the appointment, described Buckley as “the heart and soul of Collingwood,” emphasizing that the club is entering a new era of unity and ambition under his leadership.
“As Executive Chairman, Nathan will work closely with both football and administrative departments, strengthening our culture and helping shape a future that aligns with Collingwood’s values and high-performance expectations,” Browne stated.
