New Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Booker was raised as a supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Booker, the 12th pick in the NFL Draft, never had a chance to join the Steelers at 21st overall, and they wouldn’t select a guard that early regardless.
Nonetheless, Booker is an avid football fan and is well-versed in the history of the Steelers-Cowboys rivalry during the 1970s and 1990s. That matchup turned into a unique cross-conference rivalry because of how often those teams played against one another. Following his selection by the Cowboys, Booker expresses his dislike for the Steelers.
“I was raised a Steelers fan,” Booker stated. “Understanding that the competition extends back to times prior to my birth and even before my parents’ birth.” I’m a football fanatic; I adore football. As I was growing up and watching A Football Life, all I noticed was that, ‘If you’re a fan of the Steelers, you’re meant to despise the Cowboys.’ “I’m now a Dallas Cowboy, which means I dislike the Steelers.”
Last year, the Steelers faced the Cowboys, but they are not set to compete this year. Nevertheless, whenever those two teams compete, it nearly always draws national attention due to the immense influence both franchises hold in the NFL realm.
For someone like Booker, going up against the team he cheered for as a child will be a unique experience, but he appears completely unbothered about making the change.
