Cronin: I think the Bears are having a lot of talks about OL at 10
The latest Bears Banter Podcast has dropped!
The NFL Draft is just two weeks away, and we spoke with ESPN’s Courtney Cronin to break down everything going on with the Chicago Bears.
Courtney is fresh off the league meetings and talked about what she heard there. She discusses the latest progress (or lack thereof) with the stadium project and, of course, plenty on the NFL Draft!
Courtney’s insight on the 10th pick was interesting.
“That left tackle spot, when Ryan Poles talks about using that number 10 pick, very high draft pick, you need to think of short-term and long-term concerns,” Cronin stated. “I tend to believe that the Braxton Jones conundrum that they’re facing right now. Ben Johnson said he is not expected to be full-go by the start of training camp. Do you really think they’re going to have Kiran Amegadjie go into training camp as the Left Tackle 1, as the starting left tackle, without any competition?” Courtney continued, “Would it be the worst thing in the world if they got Will Campbell there? Would it be the worst thing in the world if it was Josh Simmons, and I know there’s some injury concerns there. I’m not in the Armand Membou camp. I don’t think drafting a right tackle and having them play left tackle, I just don’t think that’s smart… I don’t think that they’re done (with the offensive line). I get the sense that that is a serious conversation they are having at Halas Hall, weighing those scenarios about, if one of the top left tackles is on the board, do we need to pounce?”
It’s a great conversation with Courtney. To check out the video version, you can do so on the 2nd City Gridiron YouTube page below:
