Much like the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears haven’t found the success their fan base has been looking for over the past decade. For a franchise that’s built on its fan base, the Bears are hopeful that the 2025-26 season will be much better for them.
However, until things change, questions will remain, and new head coach Ben Johnson will be tasked with answering them.
Johnson has been around the city numerous times over the past few months, and before the Cubs game over the weekend, Craig Counsell had the opportunity to meet Johnson and his family.
Speaking to reporters, including the Chicago Tribune, after the game, he had some kind words to say about the Bears’ new head coach. “It’s all in front of him and that’s what’s kind of cool. That’s what you kind of think when you are meeting him.
You are thinking, ‘You have a great, great future in front of you and you have challenges in front of you and you have a lot of fun in front of you.'” He later added that his first pitch was impressive. “I thought it was pretty good,” Counsell said of the pitch.
“I hope he told Brad that was coming, because that was some gas.” It’s always a fantastic day when the Bears and Cubs can collaborate, even if it’s for a short time, as was the case over the weekend.
Counsell and Johnson both understand that they have two of the most challenging jobs in the world. The two storied franchises, the expectation is for them to win. If not, Chicago fans will undoubtedly let them have it.
