DEAL ACCEPTED: Boston Bruins alternate captain Charlie McAvoy signs a 4-year contract with the Seattle Kraken, worth \$109 Million as their new franchise defenseman**

In a bombshell move that’s sent shockwaves through the NHL world, Boston Bruins alternate captain and elite defenseman Charlie McAvoy has signed a staggering 4-year, \$109 million contract with the Seattle Kraken. The deal marks one of the richest in NHL history, cementing McAvoy as the face of the Kraken’s future blue line.

The Kraken, an expansion team that has quickly built a competitive roster since their 2021 debut, announced the signing on Monday morning. General Manager Ron Francis hailed the acquisition as a defining moment for the franchise.

“Charlie McAvoy is a generational defenseman. He brings leadership, elite defensive instincts, and top-tier offensive production. This is a cornerstone move for our organization,” Francis said.

McAvoy, 27, has spent his entire NHL career with the Bruins since being drafted 14th overall in 2016. Widely considered one of the league’s best two-way defensemen, he was instrumental in Boston’s deep playoff runs and served as a leader both on and off the ice.

“Boston will always hold a special place in my heart,” McAvoy said in a statement. “But I’m incredibly excited for this new chapter. Seattle has built something special, and I’m honored to be a part of their journey toward a Stanley Cup.”

The contract includes full no-movement clauses, significant performance bonuses, and makes McAvoy the highest-paid defenseman in league history on an average annual value (AAV) basis.

McAvoy is expected to wear the ‘A’ for Seattle and lead the team’s top defensive pair alongside rising star Vince Dunn. Fans eagerly anticipate his debut in Kraken colors, particularly for the season-opening clash against his former team, the Boston Bruins.

With this signing, the Kraken have firmly planted their flag as serious contenders in the NHL’s Western Conference.
